I have been a professor of social work since 2000. From August 2011-May 2012, I was on hiatus from my "regular" gig and lived in New York City, where I had the opportunity to teach in two interesting - and different - graduate social work programs. I have such an appreciation for my students who work with some of life's most challenging people. Among other things, social workers help individuals, families, groups, and communities manage the ups and downs associated with transitions from one state to another - for example from health to infirmity or vice versa, or from adolescence to young adulthood and beyond. As a middle aged boomer with adult children, I've been doing a fair amount of transitioning myself!
I also like traveling and discovering new places to go. I take lots of photos of the places I visit. I also take lots of photos of the people in my life.
